AFRECS recently hosted an event: When Hope Breathes, the Resilient People of the Sudans. Ambassador Donald E. Booth, U.S. Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan 2013-2017 and again for Sudan 2019-2021, shared his impressions of the current situation in the Sudans. Retired ambassador Dane F. Smith, Jr., director of AFRECS and Senior Advisor on Darfur in the Office of the U.S. Special Envoy to Sudan 2011-12, was in dialogue with Ambassador Booth.
